Overview

The Next Generation Instrumentation System (NGI) is designed as a highly adaptable, modular system for your instrumentation needs. The NGI system interfaces with the vehicle using a combination of data from the vehicle data bus and discrete analog or switched inputs. Application specific systems are easily developed with existing or custom decals, various LED backlighting colors, and software configurations designed specifically for your vehicle.

Modules Single and Multi Gauges

Overview

NGI Gauges receive pointer data from one of the Control Units (LMC or SCU) over an internal NGI data bus. The NGI data bus carries power, data, backlight power, and grounds from the Control Unit to the gauge. NGI gauges require no calibration, configuration or maintenance.

2×8 Lightbar

Overview

NGI Lightbars receive data from one of the Control Units (LMC or SCU) over an internal NGI data bus or through direct switched inputs to the Lightbar. The Lightbar can also be used as a stand-alone unit if all activations are switched inputs since the unit contains its own power and ground.

  • Telltales driven by data bus input from Control Unit, or a direct switched input

Modules Smart Dual Pressure Transducer SDPT

Overview

The SDPT converts air pressure and/or vacuum inputs from two separate sources into data signals and broadcasts those signals over the J1939 CAN or J1587 vehicle data bus.

  • Environmentally sealed against dust and moisture penetration

Overview

The Compass Module features a built-in two-axis magnetic sensor where heading data from 0 to 359 degrees is broadcast over the J1939 CAN or J1587 data bus.

LMC (Lightbar Message Center)

Overview

The LMC is part of the modular Next Generation Instrumentation NGI the instrumentation requirements for all vehicle platforms. The LMC receives messages from the vehicle data bus, switched inputs and analog inputs and processes this data to drive telltales and gauges, display vehicle information or broadcast messages on the vehicle data bus.

Overview

The SCU is part of the modular Next Generation Instrumentation (NGI) system that can satisfy the instrumentation requirements for all vehicle platforms. The SCU receives messages from the vehicle data bus, switched inputs and analog inputs and processes this data to drive telltales and gauges, display vehicle information or broadcast messages on the vehicle data bus.

  • SAE J1587/J1939 (CAN) data bus communication
  • 12 or 24 volt operation
  • Six switched inputs, four analog inputs, plus three configurable to switched or analog inputs
  • Two switched outputs
  • 7 character display
  • Various LED backlighting colors available (amber, white, blue, green, red)
  • Display trip information, engine hours, digital gauge values, system diagnostics
  • Display compass heading data with calibration routine and declination inputs (Compass is optional module)
